CardioCoach™ Vo2/RMR Testing
The Gym of Buckhead's CardioCoach technology delivers simple and accurate fitness testing. It measures key data including peak VO2, anaerobic threshold, and the precise amount of calories burned at all exercise heart rate levels. We use this data as the foundation for customized exercise programs that truly meet the needs the GOB Member. One session with the CardioCoach empowers clients with the ability to meet their fitness goals efficiently and safely with no unnecessary fatigue or wasted time. Initial VO2 and RMR assessments are administered when you sign up under select Gym of Buckhead membership plans. Additional testing is available to members at a discounted rate. What is VO2 and Anaerobic Threshhold?
VO2 is the rate of oxygen uptake, or consumption, measured during exercise. The maximum rate of oxygen uptake is called VO2 max. VO2 max is the ultimate measure of fitness and is reported in milliliters of oxygen per kilogram of body weight per minute or ml/Kg/min. A VO2 test will also show the anaerobic threshold. The anaerobic threshold is the level of exercise intensity beyond which the body can no longer provide adequate oxygen to the muscles. Knowing the unique anaerobic threshold can be used to design a workout plan that will improve fitness and maximize calorie burning. Measurement of VO2 max or Peak VO2 will provide a true assessment of fitness level. The CardioCoach test will provide all of this data that is vital to proper fitness training. In addition, a CardioCoach test will also measure how many calories are burned during a workout at every exercise heart rate level. This information, along with a heart rate monitor, or a heart rate equipped bike or treadmill, can be used to calculate the precise amount of calories burned during a workout.

What is RMR?
Metabolic rate, or metabolism, is the rate at which the body expends energy. This is also referred to as the “caloric burn rate”. With this information GOB trainers can design exercise and nutritional programs that work specifically for your body. Knowing your metabolic rate is vital for structuring an effective weight loss program and the key to sure success. FInd out more about RMR Testing.

How Does This Help Me Meet My Goals?
As you now know, VO2 and RMR testing provides great information about how your body works. When you pull all of this data together, it becomes a major tool in helping you meet your fitness goals. For example, if your goal is to lose weight, through these tests you will know the rate at which your body burns fat while resting, when in your workout your body burns the most calories, and how to structure your workout and nutritional program to meet your goals efficiently.

These tests are not only for weight loss. Many professional athletes use these tools to understand their own level of fitness and monitor its improvement.
